My new children's book is just about to be released, and since I am still working on the website, I thought I'd start a blog. As I figure this blogging thing out, I will add more details about my book; until then, I will attempt to describe it in a nutshell.
Color My World is an interactive book of poems designed to make kids feel comfortable in their own skin. It engages the reader and gets them involved from the first page. And it keeps them engage even after they have finished reading the book.
There are places for readers to complete certain poems, and spaces to draw pictures expressing feelings that the poems spark. There are also spaces for the readers to journal their inner-most feelings about special people in their lives. Oh, and The Origami Poetry Writer is an absolute hit!
I am currently working from my manuscript (since the book has not yet rolledoff the presses), and the school visits and workshops have been huge successes!
Kids love the book because it grabs their attention and gets excited, and it keeps them involved. Teachers love the book because it teaches them without feeling like a lesson. It is truly a fun and inspiring experience for kids of all ages; however, it is geared to grades 3 through 5.
